The website will comprise of various sections such as The Background of Blikkiesdorp, Job section, Needs and support list, information and breaking news, stories of families and gallery of photographs, how you can assist section in the form of goods and services and many more.

The website will be called blikkiesdorp 4 Hope and will be launching early November 2011. Blikkiesdorp does not have any type of active Social and Entrepeneural Development and going into their fifth year of being in existance,  the Leaders along with the community are ready to start making Positive Social Change however they need a helping hand to achieve this goal.

Chennells SA Albertyn Attorneys for Gugeluthu Residents facing Eviction to Blikkiesdorp

A Cape High Court Case is in progress against the Western Province Provincial Government, the Minister of Human Settlement and Minister of Trade against the evictions of Gugeluthu residents of Masonwabe Park ERF 9967 to move to Blikkiesdorp. Our interaction with Chennels SA Albertyn and expert advice and personal affidavits provided in opposal of the residents moving to Blikkiesdorp . It seems that we are achieving some success, as recent meetings with the City have shifted focus from Blikkiesdorp to some extent, to alternatives closer to Gugeluthu.

City of Cape Town negotiations and talks

The Commitee has been involved with many talks with The City of Cape Town to discuss the issues that the residents of Blikkiesdorp is facing on a daily basis. The aim of these talks and negotiations are to achieve a strategy and implementation plan for Upliftment and development projects and support to be implemented in Blikkiesdorp. Our first meeting with the City of Cape Town was held with The Department of Housing and Health, until now no aid has been implemented in Blikkiesdorp and we are awaiting confirmation on the next City meeting with public Particapation and with The Department of Social Development and The Department of Safety and Security. We would very much like to work with the City and are seeking support and understanding and assistance in creating Positive Social Upliftment within the camp.

SAPS Delft participation to ensure a safer environment

Since the recent outbreak of Drug fuelled crime in Blikkiesdorp in August 2011, we held talks with SAPS Delft – Brigadier Jansen and Hanif Loonat chairperson of the Western Cape Policing Board, we made a heartfelt, desperate plea for assistance to protect the safety of the residents of Blikkiesdorp. Since then SAPS has continued to show support and the policing prescence has been evident in the Camp. An alliance with the committee and SAPS has also been formed to combat crime and uphold Law and order in the Camp.  We thank every-one for their efforts and ongoing support!

The MylifE Foundation: Youth Development Organisation with a Vision for the Future of South Africa.

After 13 years of working with at-risk and homeless children and youth on Cape Town’s streets, MylifE is establishing its first green village; this Train-the-Trainer village will be a centre of skills development, individual healing, sustainability and new community creation, training the mentors and the future leaders of South Africa.MylifE is a social project with a decade of research and understanding of the social dynamics that leads our children and youth to marginalization. MylifE is showing the world that change is possible and that hardened youth can have a positive impact on society. MylifE wants to offer the youth the choice to change their lives. The outcome of this process is independent young people that are role models and mentors for the future. If you would like to sponsor youth from Blikkiesdorp on attending this life changing journey, please contact Linzi Thomas on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
